Gael Hillyard, Inverness Campus April 2022

contemporary painter | writer | creative explorer

Themes such as light, space, and buildings feature in a lot of my work due to much of my childhood spent exploring the many oddly shaped rooms of a studio rich with stucco, faded wallpaper, and large dusty windows. My paintings are mostly oil and acrylic and sometimes include collage and found objects, such as old paper, metal, glass, dried plant materials, and even the occasional insect.

I also write for local and international business on topics as varied as travel, music, and, of course, art. Please get in touch if you would like to talk about your copywriting and content requirements.

And when not painting, mixing ink, writing, or making handmade books and cards, I deliver workshops to groups throughout the Highlands and beyond, on art, crafts, and creativity, where I share my experience and knowledge with focus on enhancing practical, and observation skills, and increasing self-confidence, and curiosity.

Finally, I am on the Executive Committee and Treasurer of the Scottish Artists Union, Membership Secretary of the Inverness Darkroom, and member of the Visual Arts Association and the Professional Copywriters Association.

Join me on my artistic journey and maybe you will find your own creative path at the same time.
