Orkney Outpost - original watercolour collage
Orkney Outpost from my Tiny Shed series. This collage is made from hand cut and painted watercolour pieces, on a multicoloured background with subtle gold details.
I made this at my studio in Inverness. I started by hand painting the papers for the structure of the shed, then added additional papers from my own stash that I have collected over many years. I then mounted the collage onto a mono printed background and finally added details in ink, and dimensional paints.
This piece is inspired by my family's bolt hole - our own outpost - on one of the Northern Isles of Orkney. The land is surrounded by sea, and wild moorland but I occasionally find one or two stray lilies that pop up along the track to our place. They are deep pink and incredibly vibrant against the green and muted landscape.
The artwork will be posted wrapped carefully and posted; it is unframed but is matted in an ivory picture mount ready for your own framing.
Please let me know if you would like me to include a message for the recipient if you are sending as a gift.
